By Semmelweis Superbly written. Combines the academic science with practical advice. Slight European perspective on treatments and pharmaceuticals but that is not a problem.

A really useful and well done text. I have had it for one month and it is the first book I pull from the shelf. I have used it at least 20x in the past 30 days.

Very interesting book! By Amazon Customer For its proportion and the extent at which subjects are treated, this book can be considered as a kind of "bible" for professionals in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. Overall, it has a less strictly didactic approach than the previous one and you can find more detailed and up-to-date information.

At the same time, the list of contents at the beginning of the book is very clear and allows readers to easily identify the various sections one may want to focus on. I appreciate the fact that the book is dedicated to the memory of David Bransky, who unexpectedly died during the drafting phase of this book.

To conclude, this book is really excellent and I highly recommend it. See all 2 customer reviews Related Papers. By Eduardo Atalah S. By Ricardo Uauy. My training was based on the teaching of outstanding mentors such as Salvatore Auricchio and Armido Rubino, to whom I will always be indebted , on eager clinical work and on tireless research; and reading of adult gastrointestinal textbooks that were regarded as the necessary theoretical fundaments of knowledge. St Louis, MO: Mosby, came along, somewhat officially identifying our field as a free-standing subspecialty and heralding a new exciting era of educational tools directed at our discipline.

Paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition encompass a wide range of paediatric practice with conditions being managed in a wide variety of settings, dependent upon their complexity. This includes primary care, secondary services, and specialist paediatric practice. Conditions such as abdominal pain and constipation can be assessed in any of these settings. Conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, and liver failure require specialist assessment but still shared care within the wider healthcare environment. Nutritional problems are seen by us all in everyday practice with nutritional support being an integral part of the management of any chronic disease. The handbook is intended as a practical reference for practitioners who commonly see such conditions both in training and in clinical practice.
