Based on a two-stage paired data from employee-supervisor dyads, it is found that workplace incivility has a significant negative effect on the process creativity and outcome work performance of observers' job effectiveness; deontic justice mediates the effect of workplace incivility on observers' job effectiveness including creativity and job performance ; belief in a just work not only moderates the effect of workplace incivility on observers' job effectiveness, but also moderates the mediation mechanism of deontic justice. This study explores the effect of workplace incivility form observers' perspective, enriches the literature on workplace incivility, which has much value for organizations to restrain workplace incivility and its negative effects. The purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating effect of deontic justice in the relationship between unethical leader behavior and employee performance, and whether leader—member exchange LMX moderates the effect. A two-time-point questionnaire survey was used to collect data from employees of nine firms in China at two points in time separated by approximately three weeks. The hypothesized moderated mediation model used in this study was supported. Deontic justice mediates the negative relationship between unethical leader behavior and employee performance, and higher LMX tends to strengthen this indirect relationship. Drawing on deontic justice theory, this study extends the previous research on the nonconscious system of moral decision-making processing by introducing employee deontic justice as a mediator in the relationship between unethical leader behavior and employee performance and further exploring LMX as a boundary condition of this indirect relationship.

Abstract: The present study used questionnaires, situation priming and the third party punishment game paradigm, to explore the influence of the high or low moral justice and information processing methods rational processing, empirical processing and control group on the third party punishment under unfair conditions. This chapter relates justice to deonance , or the psychology of behaviors required or forbidden by social codes of conduct prescriptive and proscriptive duties , versus those that are permitted rights. Initial sections review the origins of deonance as a perspective on organizational justice and then discuss subsequent developments—some of which connect directly to that original formulation and some of which are related concepts. The subsequent analysis looks forward rather than backward in the sense of tracing historical roots. On the one hand it revisits the conceptual foundation and extends it by noting some additional implications. On the other hand it goes beyond mere extensions of the original by suggesting some new directions. In particular, these indicate how a deonance perspective encompasses more than the justice phenomena that had been its source.
