Here in the Tintagel to Holywell ranger team in North Cornwall we have some full time volunteer changes: Two months ago Phil joined the team‘I joined the team in order to gain some practical conservation experience and live in a beautiful part of the south west. After graduating from Exeter University with a degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology I became a builder. Although I enjoyed the building I want to combine both areas of my life so far. So after four years working in all weathers I decided to become a ranger!! Since joining the team in February I have been busy clearing scrub, maintaining footpaths, rebuilding Cornish hedges and repairing bridges. I have been on a 4×4 off road driving course, a hedgelaying course and winter tree identification course and am soon to be brushcutter trained and ready for the season ahead. I am looking forward to an amazing and sunny summer (fingers crossed!) and look forward to getting out and about and explore the beautiful Cornish coastline.’ Phil.
Pete Smith who has been with us since July has gained some paid employment as a ranger. We wish him the very best and will miss his valuable contribution.
