Following the success of the exhibition that we hosted at Stow Barton at the end of the summer 2013, we contacted the artists involved, and have now arranged a continuous rolling event in the NT cafe in Boscastle, with one artist displaying at a time for a month.
For February we are proud to be hosting the work of Robbie Jones an illustrator and woodcutter based in the Cornish countryside…. All the artists involved are mostly local to the North Cornwall area, and the theme of the exhibition is ‘The Cruel and Curious’. It’s all about the North Cornish coastline, the cliffs, shipwrecks, sea monsters….
His approach towards his work has always been traditional and with a very hands on approach without the use of modern technology.
Inspiration for his work comes from old traditional tattooing, American folk art, country and folk music, 18th century woodcuts and the scenery of the North Cornwall countryside.
The Cruel and Curious exhibition is on all year, with a new artist to shake things up each month – each artist has their own style and there will be many different mediums – illustration, paintings, photography, sculpture – you are invited to come in and take a look.
