Half term hubbub at Porthcothan cliffs

Last Wednesday, families from St Merryn Primary School were invited to join us for a day of scrub bashing, baking potatoes on the bonfire and the always popular, chocolate bananas!

We were pleasantly surprised to be joined by 7 families, enthusiastically stomping up the coast path to the clifftops above the beach at Porthcothan. With the weather threatening to break soon after lunch, the families got straight into the gorse and bramble, creating a mountain of cuttings to add to the fire. We soon had a cook on and successfully managed to feed all the hard workers before the rain swept in!

Thanks very much for all the hard work that the families put in. We’ll hopefully see you again soon for more family volunteering.

If you’re interested in doing some practical conservation volunteering with us, email tom.sparkes@nationaltrust.org.uk to find out how.
