This year we have dedicated Tuesdays in June and July to pulling Balsam in the Valency Valley, Boscastle.
June: 4, 11, 18, 25
July: 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Days run from 10am-4pm
You will need lunch, wellies and long sleeved clothes.
Meet at end of main car park in Boscastle, parking on NT land available.
We are also running the Boscastle Balsam bash again this year, with Cornwall college Newquay volunteers on Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 June, 10am-3pm
We need all the help we can get to tackle this invasive non-native plant. Himalayan Balsam competes with our native plants, and can take over vast areas of river bank if left un-checked. Working with Cornwall college, Newquay, and their volunteer group, sinng, we hope to eradicate it completely from the Valency catchment.
This year, Full time volunteer, Ben Thatcher, is coordinating the balsam bashing effort in Valency Valley, Boscastle. We are meeting every Tuesday in June and July. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact Ben direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
For all Balsam pulling dates please meet in the overflow car park in Boscastle (GR: SX100 913) If you cannot make that time and want to meet the group later, find out where they are by contacting Ben on 07971 834944.
I think that is all for now.
