And so the mammoth fundraising South West Coast Path walk has completed its route through our piece of North Cornwall. Most of the Ranger team were involved to some extent, leading and back-marking 4 of the sponsored treks along our stunning coastline between Morwenstow and Holywell Bay. The SWCP Association’s challenge has raised double the amount of money they were hoping for already, and together with the generous donations from companies and businesses along the route this means that dozens of path improvement projects can now go ahead.
On our patch, Parkdean Holidays have chipped in to buy materials that will build a new boardwalk and steps at Polly Joke as well as step repairs and Cornish hedge rebuilding at Carnewas, so a huge thanks to them. A team of 10 Parkdean staff joined us for the Crantock to Perranporth walk yesterday as well as a group of staff from the Bowgie Inn, West Pentire who also generously stumped up money to sponsor the event. Nice one guys!
Of course this week has seen stunning weather in Cornwall, so the coastline was looking its absolute best as we walked through, unable to resist grabbing a few photos.
There are still several sections still to walk and time to join in before the culmination of the whole event at Land’s end next tuesday – check out-http://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/40th-anniversary/ for details of the remaining walks and https://www.facebook.com/southwestcoastpath for latest pictures and comments.
