Currently the National Trust are sharing some of the best walks with everyone to get more people out and about on these perfect crisp autumn days. There is even a web place to find them… and somewhere where you can add and share your own favourites!
In North Cornwall we are over flowing with great places to get out and explore and get some air – places like Morwenstow, Hawker’s Hut, Boscastle, Port Quin, Doyden Castle, Polzeath, The Rumps, Bedruthan Steps and Holywell beach are just a few ideas….
And taking this idea of a Great British Walk to an extreme is Steve Ridd aka One Man – and His Mum. They are heading off this weekend to walk the Cornish Coast Path, a part of the SWCP and in the process hope to raise lots of money for two different charities – First, the South West Coast Path Association which protects, improves, and preserves the path for the public. The funds raised for this charity will be used for numerous small improvement projects to upgrade the path between Looe and Polperro.
And then, also another charity close to their hearts, the The Polperro Memory Cafe, which is run by Steve’s mother, and which provides a regular meeting place for sufferers of dementia and Alzheimer’s, and their carers. At each meeting people support each other, share information, and take part in activities to help stimulate their mind. Funds raised will be used to keep the cafe going and provide activities for the group for the next 12 months.
While they are out and about on their travels they are also running an i-spy competition, with a rather grand prize at the end for the winner donated by the National Trust!
