Balsam Being Bashed

There was a successful start to the plan of removing Himalayan Balsam from the Valency Valley, Boscastle. Members of the public and volunteers from the National Trust and Cornwall College Newquay joined together to remove over 10,000 plants from the river system. As the plant has a waterborne seed the volunteers started in the higher reaches where the plant first appears and worked downstream. Throughout the year we will continue to hold regular days to carry on the good work – get in touch if you want to help
